There’s lots of evidence to suggest that the relationship you have with your therapist is the most important factor in the success of therapy. Of course, like any relationship, it can take time to develop, but it’s important that you have some sense that you could be comfortable and open with a particular therapist before you commit to working with them.
Initially, I’d suggest a half-hour session free of charge online or over the ’phone for you to see if you feel you could work with me. During this session we'd talk about what brings you to therapy and how you hope it can help. It will also give you a chance to ask any questions before making your decision.
